Royal Museum  Nestled amidst the lush landscape of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Laos, the Royal Museum stands as a timeless testament to the region’s rich cultural heritage. Formerly the royal residence of Laos’ monarchs, this exquisite museum now welcomes visitors to explore its halls filled with treasures of bygone eras.

Step through the ornate gates and into a world where history comes alive. Marvel at the intricate architecture that blends traditional Lao motifs with French colonial influences, reflecting the country’s diverse heritage. Inside, a treasure trove awaits, with artifacts ranging from ancient royal regalia to intricate religious artworks.

Each exhibit offers a glimpse into Laos’ storied past, from the opulent lifestyle of its monarchs to the spiritual traditions that have shaped the nation. Wander through opulent throne rooms adorned with gilded decorations, and admire sacred relics that speak to the enduring faith of the Laotian people.

As you roam the halls of the Royal Museum, let its captivating exhibits transport you to a time of splendor and majesty. 

Wat Xieng Thong Temple stands as a magnificent testament to Laotian craftsmanship and spirituality. Dating back to the 16th century, this revered Buddhist temple is a masterpiece of traditional Lao architecture, adorned with intricate carvings, gilded motifs, and sweeping tiered roofs that reach towards the sky. As you approach the temple grounds, be greeted by the sight of ornate gateways, known as “hawng,” adorned with colorful mosaics depicting scenes from Buddhist mythology. Step inside, and feel a sense of serenity wash over you as you wander through the temple’s sacred halls. Marvel at the exquisite “tree of life” mosaic, a symbol of enlightenment, that adorns the rear wall of the main hall, and admire the graceful lines of the temple’s sim, or ordination hall, where monks gather for prayer and meditation.

Kuang Si Waterfalls emerge like a natural wonderland, beckoning travelers to discover their breathtaking beauty. Tucked away in the heart of the Luang Prabang province, these cascading falls captivate visitors with their ethereal turquoise waters and verdant surroundings.

As you venture along winding pathways shaded by towering trees, the sound of rushing water grows louder, signaling your approach to this natural marvel. Suddenly, you emerge into a clearing, where the sight of Kuang Si’s multi-tiered falls takes your breath away. Crystal-clear streams tumble down limestone cliffs, creating a series of shimmering pools that invite you to take a refreshing dip in their cool waters.

Hmong Village is where traditional ways of life endure amid a backdrop of breathtaking scenery. Immerse yourself in the rhythms of daily life as you explore the village’s colorful stalls & where the local villagers showcase their intricate handicrafts and vibrant textiles. Participate in the activities where you will shown the Hmong skills used by the local people.

Elephant Village is a sanctuary nestled amid the outskirts of Luang Prabang. Here, visitors have the unique opportunity to  participate in feeding sessions with these gentle giants.

Additional Information

• Commencement time may change  depending on the season 
• You will need to have your shoulders covered and often visitors are asked to change into long pants (provided by Palace) if visitors are wearing shorts
• Handbags/backpacks cannot be taken into the Palace so if you have these items, they must be left in the minivan or placed in a locker at the Museum.
• Lunch is not supplied but can be purchased at  the Waterfalls
