Remote Village Tour at Chomphet

Program:

8:30am: Tour departs from your accommodation in Luang Prabang city. You will travel by car, with your local guide, to the ferry, in order,  to cross the mighty Mekong River to Chom Phet District.

You proceed towards the most beautiful, remote Khmu villages, in a mountainous, rural area. Khmu, being the largest of the minority groups in Laos.

After a spectacular drive, you reach the village of Houy Yor, where very few tourists visit. You will be amazed to observe the simple way that these people live, in harmony with nature.

Your guide will take you for a walk around the village and you will visit the local school, where you have the opportunity to donate some books, pens or pencils to the students. These children have very few resources and any assistance are greatly appreciated. (You can purchase such items at one of the local markets, before your tour).

Probably, the most remote part of this tour will be around 10 villages, where you can observe tribal culture and learn about family life, in the countryside. These villages are largely untouched by the outside world, hence, their authenticity.

Later in the day you will visit a pottery village.
